Welcome back for the start of the spring first half term, January 2019, we hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year and we would like to thank everyone for the lovely gifts and cards that we received.
We will endeavour to keep you up to date with everything that is going on via the named dockets on the wall and the parent information board in the corridor. We update our Facebook page with notices and planning and send regular newsletters as well as other information via our email list.
Weekly breakdowns of what the children have been partaking in whilst at Chester Bears will be displayed in the cloakroom. Feel free to ask a member of staff if you have any queries or if you have not received the emails.
Self-Registration is going well. Please remind your child to bring their shape into the group each morning.
We are welcoming two new children and their families to the group this term.

Swarland Bears is our before and after school club for children aged 2-12 years. The breakfast club is a drop-in session from 8am-9am. There is a £2 charge for this session.
The after-school club operates 3pm-5pm at a cost of £3 per hour, 5pm-5:30pm at a cost of £3.95 per hour. Friday evening 3pm – 5:30pm at a cost of £3.95 per hour – this is a pre-booked session only.
This term we have Dance club on a Monday and Cookery club on a Thursday. There are still spaces available for the clubs, you do not need to book in for every week.
Please can you not send your child into pre-school wearing a hair clip. These can be a choking hazard and are easily picked up by younger children if they fall out of hair. Thank you.
Please can you ensure that all your child’s clothes – including coats and shoes – are named, to prevent mix-ups. This half term sees us continue with the colder weather, can you ensure your child has the appropriate clothing including winter coats, hats and gloves as we enjoy outside play and exploratory walks in all weather conditions.
Tuesday morning sessions will include P.E. in the school hall. This will help to familiarise the children with the primary school environment as well as allowing space for free movement. This half term we will be changing into P.E. kits. The pre-school group who attend on a Tuesday morning will require a t-shirt and shorts to change into. Please put these in a drawstring bag with the child’s name onto the pegs labelled P.E. kits at the bottom of the cloakroom. Your child does not require sandshoes as P.E. is done in bare feet.
The younger group will not need a P.E kit.
We ask that parents send in one piece of fruit for every two days your child attends. This will be cut up and shared amongst the children. We ask that you bring 2 packets of biscuits each half term (Pre-school group sweet biscuits and younger group savoury biscuits please). Biscuits should be nut free and suitable for vegetarians. All snacks are shared out. Please see notice on parent’s board for further information.
Hot meals are provided by the school kitchen and remain at a low cost of £2 per day. Please take payment directly to the school office. This should be clearly marked with your child’s name, date, amount enclosed and what the payment is for. Please make cheques payable to ‘Northumberland County Council’. To help with your calculations, this half term is 6 weeks long.
As previously advised our new fees are now in place with effect from 1st January.
Bills will be emailed to you on a monthly basis. Please contact Carole or Tracy if you have any queries.
Key Worker List
All new starters have had feedback meetings with their child’s keyworker. The children have settled in well to their new surroundings. The key worker list can be found on the staff information board. We will be holding meetings for the pre-school group this term.
If you are planning a holiday in term time please could you complete and hand in a holiday form which can be found on the parent’s notice board. If your child is sick, please could you call the pre-school on 01670783323, each morning of sickness as early as possible.
Please note if your child has had sickness or diarrhoea they must stay home from preschool for 48 hours from the last episode.
